Creating Evernote on Ubuntu for smartphones

The Ubuntu community has been supporting app development for Ubuntu on phones since its  launch in January. Volunteer developers have contributed significant amounts of code to the phone, including core applications such as the calendar, calculator, the music app and more.

We are now announcing a project to create an Open Source Evernote app for Ubuntu. Driven by the success of the core apps projects, we would like to invite community contributors to participate in the development of this application.

Join the Ubuntu Evernote app development team

Evernote makes it easy for users to remember things from their everyday lives using computers, phones, tablets and the web. Evernote already has over 65 million users globally and the service is available across multiple platforms. Bringing the app to Ubuntu gives Evernote users a broader choice of platforms.

Evernote’s Platform team is eager to support Ubuntu and Canonical with engineering assistance for those participating in the Ubuntu Phone OS project. Rafe Needleman of Evernote comments, “We’re excited to see the progress the Ubuntu Community can make in creating an Evernote integration and look forward to highlighting the work when it’s ready.
